At this year's IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover, Germany, Konzelmann GmbH will present its TPU portfolio for commercial vehicles and future mobility solutions. The focus is on the PURKON materials PURKON2000 and PURKON2001, as well as the new products PURKON2080, PURKON3000 and PURKON4000, which were developed in response to specific customer requirements and are characterized by exceptional resistance to wear and tear. Instead of standard products made from conventional materials that require compromises, Konzelmann offers tailor-made solutions – on display September 15–20, 2026, at IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover (Germany), hall 19/20, booth D50.
Löchgau, Germany, August 5, 2026 – Alternative powertrains, new operating fluids, and increasing demands for efficiency and reliability are posing challenges for the commercial vehicle industry. Where conventional materials reach their limits, there is a need for materials that are precisely tailored to the specific application. Konzelmann is responding to this shift with exceptionally robust and custom-developed TPU materials. At IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hanover, Germany, the company will be highlighting three new materials from its portfolio: PURKON2080, PURKON3000 and PURKON4000.
Trade Fair Highlight: New PURKON Materials
As a special highlight, Konzelmann will present three new TPU products at IAA TRANSPORTATION. PURKON2080 was developed specifically for solenoid valves in commercial vehicle braking systems and meets high safety requirements. PURKON3000 is a TPU material that is equally suitable for mineral oil-based and bio-based oils, requiring only one seal instead of two. PURKON4000 is specifically designed for use with water-glycol coolant mixtures and, thanks to the material’s higher wear resistance, outperforms conventional elastomer components. As a result, the material is used in particular in the thermal management of electric vehicles, thereby helping to ensure the service life of the batteries used.
Already firmly established on the market and also featured at the trade show are the classic PURKON2000 and PURKON2001. These materials meet the high standards of modern hydrogen technology and reliably seal valves and couplings. PURKON2000 has also been tested and certified by the German testing organization TÜV Süd.
PURKON Materials: Hand in Hand with Customer Requirements
PURKON materials meet a wide range of requirements. Among other things, they are characterized by their resistance to mineral oils, bio-based oils and greases, water-glycol mixtures, as well as acids and alkalis. In addition, the materials reduce friction between the seal and the mating surface, enabling it to withstand high loads while maintaining low wear. This reduction is achieved, in part, through the materials’ special compositions. Thanks to their properties, they are also optimally designed for the growing importance of high-performance cooling circuits in the context of increasing electrification. “Our customers come to us with a specific technical challenge. We analyze the application, the media used, and the operating conditions, and based on that, we develop a material that precisely matches this set of requirements,” explains Heiko Kurz, Head of the Sealing Technology Business Unit at Konzelmann. “In doing so, we differentiate ourselves through material expertise, customized development, and the ability to bring demanding applications into series production.”
Sustainability as a Core Principle: PFAS-Free and Bio-Based
All PURKON materials adhere to a clear commitment to sustainability. They are PFAS-free, incorporate the maximum possible proportion of renewable raw materials, and are designed to reduce dependence on mineral oil-based components: “We want to offer materials that are high-performance and geared toward future requirements,” explains Heiko Kurz. “For us, this includes minimizing our environmental footprint without compromising on safety and reliability.”
With its expanded PURKON portfolio, Konzelmann addresses key challenges facing the commercial vehicle industry. Furthermore, TPU materials can be used not only in the automotive industry but also in other fields. For example, thanks to its resistance to acids and alkalis found in cleaning agents, PURKON4000 can be used in the food industry, among other sectors. This positions Konzelmann as an innovative development partner for a wide range of industries and applications.
