Löchgau (Germany), September 8, 2025 – Konzelmann GmbH, headquartered in Löchgau near Stuttgart, Germany, has specialized in polymer solutions for more than 60 years and supplies customers worldwide in the automotive, medical technology and industrial sectors. The family-owned company is regarded as a global partner for customized polymer solutions with sites in Germany, the USA and South Korea.
“Succession has always been a process for us”
“In our family, the transfer of responsibility has always been a process, never an abrupt cut. I also took over the company step by step from my father. Now it is similar: André has been part of the company for over ten years, established the eMobility division, and successfully managed many projects. With his experience, it was a logical decision to expand the Management Board,” says Milko Konzelmann, CEO and Managing Partner at Konzelmann. The appointment of Dr André Konzelmann is another step in the family’s history. Already in 2007, Milko Konzelmann fully took over management after a long transition period. At the same time, Frank Greminger was appointed to the Management Board. Now, with Dr. André Konzelmann, the next generation follows.
Actively shaping future markets
Since 2012, Dr. André Konzelmann has first accompanied the medical technology business and then established the eMobility division, which today goes far beyond pure electromobility. “We increasingly speak of the field of New Transportation, which also includes alternative drives such as hydrogen. In all relevant areas – from powertrain to battery to fuel cell technologies – we can offer a broad spectrum of products and innovations with our own technologies. These are exactly the topics the market is currently working on intensively, and they are decisive for the future of the state of Baden-Württemberg as an economic location in Germany,” explains Dr. André Konzelmann, CEO and Head of Business Unit eMobility at Konzelmann. For him, the appointment to the Management Board is therefore “not a turning point, but the logical further development of my previous work.” At the same time, it is about responsibility: “We face major challenges: electrification, alternative drives, sustainability. I want to contribute to ensuring that we do not only react to developments but actively shape them. Our task on the Management Board is to create the framework for growth, innovation and sustainable solutions. We have defined the basis for this together in recent years.”
From polymer specialist to product developer
In the past few decades, Konzelmann has evolved from a pure injection molder to a developer of complete assemblies and proprietary materials. Today, the company has enormous manufacturing depth – from raw material synthesis to engineering to finished series products. “Of course, I myself have not been here for 60 years – but when I look at the development of Konzelmann, it is above all the ability to evolve that sets us apart. What has sustained us from the very beginning, however, and what will remain equally important in the future, is our innovative strength,” says Dr André Konzelmann. “Today we concentrate on our four core technologies: membrane technology, tribological applications, sealing systems based on proprietary materials, and testing. We use this know-how to anticipate trends at an early stage and to develop solutions even before they are demanded by the market. This way, we can offer our customers pre-tested, ready-to-use products. You could say: we have evolved from a polymer specialist into a product developer,” adds Milko Konzelmann.
Innovation meets sustainability
Examples of the innovation strategy include the KBerstring® for battery safety and biogenic TPU materials that offer alternatives to polymers containing PFAS. “These are seedlings that we now want to nurture and grow – because they are technologically highly interesting and offer ecological advantages at the same time. Our goal is to consistently bring these developments to market and expand them further,” says Dr André Konzelmann. “TPU not only replaces critical materials but also offers real benefits for our customers. That is the direction we will continue to pursue,” adds Milko Konzelmann.
Broad foundation and international strength
Today, the business is spread across several pillars: around 40 percent medical technology, 40 percent automotive, and 20 percent industry. “For us, ‘drive’ means much more than just the passenger car. Wherever something needs to move or be stored, we apply our technologies – whether in sealing, in battery systems or in complex assemblies,” says Milko Konzelmann. International presence is a central component. “Our presence in the USA is very valuable because it brings us closer to our customers. Equally important is international sourcing: without global access, we could not implement many of our solutions at all – that is of colossal importance for us,” explains Dr André Konzelmann.
Looking ahead – ‘a partner that is needed’
The Management Board formulates clear ambitions for the future: “We want to play a central role as a development partner for key functions in mobility – in short: to be a partner that is needed and that creates real value,” says Milko Konzelmann. A signal for this orientation is the company’s first appearance at IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich, Germany. Under the guiding principle “Innovation meets Polymer,” Konzelmann will present solutions for the mobility of tomorrow there. “The IAA is the ideal platform for us to show: Konzelmann is ready for the mobility of the future,” says Dr André Konzelmann.
